Although it would be less expensive to fly the skies, the LORD is requesting a drive from Oregon to Colorado for some deeply needed rest and family time.

Recently, I was terminated from 10 years of employment from a financial firm because "your financial advisor feels that you might become untrustworthy in the future." It was wrong at every level and I was reeling from the effects of the termination, the recent move of dwelling places and a staph infection that surfaced from the foot surgeries in the summer of 2013, explaining an undeniable inner exhaustion that I struggled to overcome. Although my right foot is still swollen, I am now able to drive with my right foot, and I am thankful. I am in a season of overcoming and thanking the LORD for each small advancement.

The drive was seriously peaceful, easy, without construction and drivers practicing road rage. I was so grateful. 

The week at my twin sister's home was delightful, easy, restful and full of happy moments. Jeannie and I are fraternal twins. She has straight hair, mine is curly. She is taller, I am shorter. She is married, I am not. She has four children, I have three children. We are both creative and artistic. During the week, one of our outings took us to the majestic and magnificent Black Canyon. 

As one who believes in God and HIS justice, I have learned to step back and wait to see HIS movements. A year later the supervisor who terminated me was arrested and a year later following a trial, he is now in prison. God does not forget or overlook anything.

During this season, the following surfaced from my time at the University and it seems to so aptly fit this writing.

Face the Enemy by Henri Nouwen
 
“As you see more clearly that your vocation (calling) is to be a witness to God’s love in this world, and as you become more determined to live out that vocation, the attacks of the enemy will increase. You will hear voices saying, ‘You are worthless, you have nothing to offer, you are unattractive, undesirable, unlovable.’ The more you sense God’s call, the more you will discover in your own soul the cosmic battle between God and Satan. Do not be afraid. Keep deepening your conviction that God’s love for you is enough, that you are in safe hands, and that you are being guided every step of the way. Don’t be surprised by the demonic attacks. They will increase, but as you face them without fear, you will discover that they are powerless.
 
“What is important is to keep clinging to the real, lasting, and unambiguous love of Jesus. Whenever you doubt that love, return to your inner spiritual home and listen there to love’s voice. Only when you know in your deepest being that you are intimately loved can you face the dark voices of the enemy without being seduced by them.
 
The love of Jesus will give you an ever-clearer vision of your call as well as of the many attempts to pull you away from that call. The more you are called to speak for God’s love, the more you will need to deepen the knowledge of that love in your own heart. The farther the outward journey takes, the deeper the inward journey must be. Only when your roots are deep can your fruits be abundant. The enemy is there, waiting to destroy you, but you can face the enemy without fear when you know that you are held safe in the love of Jesus.”

The word abundantly is perissos in Greek meaning superabundance, excessive, overflowing, surplus, over and above, more than enough, profuse, extraordinary, above the ordinary, more that sufficient.
