A usually green or bluish green hexagonal mineral occurring as transparent to translucent prisms in igneous and metamorphic rocks. The most prevalent varieties are emeralds and aquamarines. Other varieties include white, sea-green, light-green, blue-green, yellow or pink. Aquamarine may be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Nigeria. Biblically these gems are noted in Exodus 28:20 as the 10th Stone on the Priest’s Ephod, in Ezekiel 1:16, 10:9, and 28:13 they are described in Ezekiel’s Wheels, Daniel 10:6 lists this stone in Daniel’s Vision and in Revelation 21:20 as the 8th foundation stone in the wall of New Jerusalem.
